Federal Lawmakers Commend Indorama-Nigeria’s Industrial and CSR Efforts

On April 15, 2025, the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream), led by Hon. Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie, visited Indorama-Nigeria’s headquarters in Eleme, Rivers State. In his remarks, Hon. Okojie commended Indorama for its contributions to Nigeria’s industrial growth and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The lawmaker also praised Indorama for its economic impact and compliance with legislative standards, emphasising the need for collaboration to address sector challenges and boost Nigeria’s economy. Other committee members who were part of the team that visited Indorama included Billy Famous Adesuwa, Etteh Okpolupm, Hart Cyril Godwin, David Abel Fouh, Dalyop Challom, Amobi Ogah, Yakubu Sani Alhaji and Afuape Afolabi. Atim Atedze Doo Grace (Clerk), Osenum Collins (Deputy Clerk), Bright Omogbai Iriekpan (Assistant Clerk) and Solomon Enahoro (Press) were also part of the visiting delegation. Mr. A.B. Rao, who represented Indorama’s Managing Director, highlighted the company’s successful Public-Private-Partnership model, advanced technology, and expansion plans, including two world-class fertilizer plants, with a third due in 2026. He detailed CSR projects benefiting six host communities, including roads, schools, health facilities, water provision, scholarships, and support for small businesses, earning praise from the lawmakers. The committee, joined by NMDPRA officials, led by Mrs. Ajayi Comfort, Regional Coordinator South-South, toured key facilities such as the Olefins, Polyethylene, and Fertilizer plants, after a safety briefing by Mr. Samuel Samuel of Safety Department. Hon. Okojie lauded Indorama’s operations, urging other firms to emulate its model. The event, moderated by Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, included introductions of Indorama’s team, lawmakers, and NMDPRA officials. Mr. Rao presented a souvenir to Hon. Okojie, concluding a successful visit.
