Indorama celebrates World Environment Day with campaigns to schools

Indorama-Nigeria marked World Environment Day 2025 with a vibrant campaign around the theme of this year’s celebration, #BeatPlasticPollution, targeting eight schools in its host communities.

From June 2 to 5, the initiative engaged over 1,748 students and teachers to promote environmental responsibility and sustainability among youths. The campaign featured quizzes and talks on the dangers of plastic pollution, with Indorama personnel visiting schools including Community Secondary School, Aleto; Community Secondary School, Agbonchia; Community Secondary School, Ogale; Victor International School; Community Senior Secondary School, Akpajo; Janny International School; Community Girls Secondary, Elelenwo; and Lord’s International School, Njuru. Quiz winners received school bags and branded souvenirs.

School leaders praised Indorama’s efforts. Dr. Chinyerum Jima Ngofa, Principal of Janny International School, highlighted the campaign’s role in fostering environmental awareness and strengthening industry-education ties. Mr. Perry Koba of Lord’s International School commended Indorama’s consistent advocacy, while Dr. Ebelem Fia of Community Senior Secondary School, Akpajo, thanked the company for empowering students to protect the environment.

Indorama’s initiative aligns with its Environment and Climate Change Policy, aiming to cultivate an environmentally conscious culture. The campaign supports the company’s robust Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, ensuring environmental preservation for future generations by inspiring the youth population.
